A quick fire Q&A with Jetske van Heusden, Consultant, EventTouch.

How did you get into the events industry?

“As a senior leadership consultant at ING, I got involved in the International Graduate Programme. We hosted around 150 delegates per year at the time for 3 full weeks. I was involved in programme design, team coaching, moderation and co-ordination, and I loved it! This experience set the bar for me on how to deliver a flawless event for attendees. It’s so awesome when everything goes right. We delivered a top experience for the attendees!”

“After ING I became an independent leadership consultant, focussed on designing events and coaching executives. I worked across large and small events and built specific capabilities around the development of executive leadership programmes"

What has been the most prestigious event?

“"In first place would be the ING International Graduate Programme. A good second are the leadership journeys that I have organised for BASF, building multi-day experiences for executive teams"

name one of the biggest challenges for event organisers?

“Multitasking while keeping an eye on every ball! That might sound like a very broad statement, however, when you’re involved in an event, everything is connected. Obviously great technology helps a lot, but at the same time, you need to have amazing, and proactive, peripheral vision, to ensure that delegates are constantly getting the best possible experience. Bringing together an attractive programme and flawless logistical execution are my top ambitions”

What impact did Covid have on the industry?

“COVID obviously had a massive impact. Virtual events grew massively and in-person events declined drastically. There was a lot of real-time learning that led to some incredible innovation. What’s fascinating now is that in-person events are very much back and growing exponentially, which is awesome! Many business meetings and smaller events may still benefit from a virtual structure, saving time, travel and energy but post-COVID we see that in-person events are very much back and here to stay. People interact best in person”

How do you see the market over the next 3 years?

“Apart from technological developments that will undoubtedly have a huge impact, I think that events will increasingly become ‘personalized experiences’. Obviously content remains king, but how you deliver it sets one event apart from another. When you deliver a great experience, it will stay in a attendees’ mind forever”
